Students explore this awesome six-acre pavilion to discover all about how irrigation, hydroponics, and innovative pest management are different from traditional farming methods.
- Students explore a film and a boat ride through three ecological communities with the high-tech horticulture experiments conducted at Epcot ® where the Course Leader explains experimental agricultural and maricultural techniques with symbiosis as the guiding theme.
- The design of the Land Pavilion encourages students to “think environmentally” while they take a boat ride through experimental growing areas and the aquaculture facility.
- The Tropics Greenhouse: Crops such as rice, sugar cane, peanuts, cocoa, and bananas - found in Southeast Asia , Africa , Latin America , and the southern United states - are grown under the 60-foot dome.
- The Temperature Greenhouse: Features the concepts and technologies of sustainable agriculture, including intercropping, integrated pest management, and specialized irrigation systems that reduce waste and increase crop production.
- The Production Greenhouse: Scientists grow tons of tomatoes, peppers, lettuce, and other vegetables with growing systems that are kinder to the environment and improve productivity.
- The Creative Greenhouse: Shows imaginative ways to grow crops- without soil, hanging in the air, and even in a space station. USDA scientists are currently working at The Land Pavilion to develop fruit with a longer shelf life.
